Gallery upselling in Session is the “I want more!” button for your clients — and a quiet little revenue booster for you. You tell Session how many photos are included, what extras cost, and Session handles the awkward part: asking for payment before clients can get more than their package allows.
1. Where you set it up
You turn on upselling inside the gallery’s Deliverables panel.
- For mini sessions: it’s part of the mini’s Deliverables (the same place you set “15 photos included,” etc.).
- For full sessions: open the client gallery and edit Deliverables.
- You can choose:
- how many photos are included,
- whether to upsell extra photos,
- and whether to let clients buy the full gallery.
Set it once per gallery, and Session will enforce it for you.
2. What the client experiences
- Client opens their gallery and starts picking favorites / downloads.
- Once they go over the number included in their package…
- Session stops them and asks for payment for the extras.
- After payment, they can continue — instantly. No “hey can you send me an invoice?”
That’s the whole magic: no back and forth, no manual invoices, no chasing.
3. Soft proofing vs. Final edits
This is important 👇
- Soft proofing workflow: if upselling is on and your client selects more images than their package includes, Session will prompt them to pay for the extra images before they can submit those selections to you. That means you only ever retouch/finish photos that have already been paid for. Love that.
- Final edits / direct downloads: if upselling is on and they try to download more than what’s included, Session will ask them to pay first, and then they can download.
Either way: payment first, deliverable second.
4. Pricing options
When upselling is enabled you can:
- Charge per extra photo (e.g. $15 per additional image)
- Offer the full gallery for a flat fee (great when they “can’t choose”)
- Add a % discount on the full gallery to make it a no-brainer
It’s your business — Session just runs the checkout.
5. Why it’s great
- You stay generous (“Here are your proofs!”) without giving everything away
