How to book without a session date

Sometimes you don’t know the exact date yet — especially for newborn sessions (babies never send calendar invites 😅). Session makes this super easy so you can get the booking, payment, and paperwork done now, and pick the date later.

This is a must-have, great feature for newborn photographers.

Option 1: Use a session type and turn off “Require clients to choose date”

1. Go to Manage > Session types and open the session type.
2. Scroll to Additional properties.
3. Toggle Require clients to choose date off.
   • The little helper text even says this is for sessions where you don’t know the exact date yet — hello, newborns. 👋
4. Save.
5. Go to Manage > Availability and add this session type to any availability group for self-booking. (Skipping the last step means clients will inquire without a date instead of booking without a date.)

Now clients can fully book that session — contract, questionnaire, payment — without picking a date. You can schedule once baby arrives or once you know the timing.

Option 2: Manually create a full session without a date

1. Go to Sessions > New > New full session.
2. Enter the client name / session title.
3. Leave Session date blank.
4. Create the session and add the date later.

What the client experiences

• They can still pay and sign everything now.
• You keep the booking inside Session.
• You add the actual date when it’s known.
