Getting started with mini sessions

Summary:
Mini sessions are what Session is famous for. We built Session around the way photographers actually run minis, so clients can choose their spot, sign your contract, fill out questionnaires, pay, and later get their gallery in one single flow. We are the mini session booking platform. The OGs. If minis are part of your business, you’re in the right place.

  • Single booking flow – contract, questionnaire, payment, done at booking. No chasing.
  • Galleries grouped by mini – everyone from that mini is neatly organized.
  • Reserve spots – hold a spot for someone who’s paying later.
  • Premium spots – charge more for sunset or prime times.
  • Live dashboard – watch views, earnings, and who booked which spot in real time.
  • Same start time option – you can set all spots to the same start time, perfect for event-style shoots (Santa, school photos, dance teams) where everyone shows up at once and you work through them.
  • Waitlist feature to boost sales. Once your mini is fully booked, clients can join your waitlist and get notified when a spot opens. This keeps people engaged and excited, and helps you fill cancellations.
  • An experience unlike anything out there.

When to use a mini vs a full session

Use a mini session when:

  • Everyone is booking the same day/location
  • You want to sell a limited number of time slots
  • You want to use the same start time for all clients (event-style)
  • You want a fast, low-friction booking flow
  • You want a dashboard to see bookings and earnings for that specific event

Use a full session (session type) when:

  • Clients should be able to book any date
  • You offer the service year round
  • You want to allow inquiries first
  • You customize each booking

Minis = more revenue (short)

Because the setup is fixed, you can shoot several clients back to back (or in one block) and make more in less time. You can still add premium slots, add-ons, and sell extra images.
