How to create a mini session

This guide walks you through building a mini session from start to publish.

Create the mini

  1. In the top navigation, click Sessions.
  2. Click + New.
  3. Select New mini session.
  4. Give your mini a title. This title will be visible to clients.
  5. Click Create mini session.

You will land on the mini session edit screen.

What you can configure on the mini edit screen

On this page you can set up everything for your mini:

  1. Session details (title, description, images, waitlist)
  2. Date and location
  3. Time slots (start time, duration, number of spots, gap, breaks)
  4. Packages and fees
  5. Add ons
  6. Contracts
  7. Questionnaires and post booking questionnaires
  8. Email communication for this mini

We will go through each part.

Session details

Open the first section.

  • Title. Make it clear, for example: “Fall Family Minis at the Park.”
  • Description. Write what is included, where, what to wear, or anything special.
  • Images. Upload photos that match this mini.
  • Waitlist. Turn this on if you want people to join when the mini is full. Session will collect those names for you so you can fill spots later.

Date and time slots

Next, set when the mini happens.

  • Pick your session date.
  • Add a location (optional but helpful for clients).
  • Choose a start time.
  • Choose the duration for each spot.
  • Choose the number of spots.
  • Choose the gap between spots.
  • Add breaks if you want a pause.
  • You can also turn on Set the same start time for all spots. This is useful for events or photo days where all clients arrive at the same time.

Session will show you the list of generated time slots so you can review them.

Packages and fees

Scroll to Packages and fees and click + Add packages and fees.

Here you choose how to collect money for this mini. You can collect the full fee, collect a retainer and the rest later, or collect outside of Session. You can also decide if this mini has a single package or multiple.
(See: How to create session packages.)

Add ons

If you want to offer upgrades like hair and makeup, extra digitals, or studio rental, add them here.
(See: How to create add ons.)

Contracts

Add your contract so clients sign during booking. You can add up to two contracts.

Questionnaires

Add the questions you need at booking, and if needed, a post booking questionnaire that is shown closer to the session date.

Email communication

At the bottom you can override your global emails just for this mini. For example, if this mini needs a special reminder or location note, edit the Booking confirmation, Session reminder, or Session follow up here.

Preview

At the top right you can click Visit to see what your mini looks like to clients. You can also go Back to the mini overview page.

Important: the session link is active even if the mini is not published yet. You can copy that link and send it privately to VIP clients before making it public.

Publish

When you are happy with everything, toggle Publish on. Once published:

  • The mini will show on your Booking Site.
  • It will show on your Link in bio (if you use it).
  • You can still copy and share the direct link anywhere.

Mini session overview page

On the mini overview screen you’ll see:

  • Status at the top right (Published / Unpublished) and the toggle to show/hide it from your Booking Site and Link in bio.
  • Session link so you can copy and share it, even while it’s unpublished.
  • Analytics cards across the top: Earnings, Bookings, Views — all real time.
  • Waitlist section where you can turn it on/off and see who’s waiting.
  • Timeline of spots for that mini (this is where you can click a spot to Reserve it or mark it Premium before anyone books).
  • Session details on the right to quickly see date, price, contract, and questionnaire.
  • Notes (only visible to you) to jot down location details, props, or VIPs.
  • Activity so you can see what happened and when (created, reminder emails sent, galleries published, etc.).
  • Once a spot is booked, you can click the client's name to see their signed contract, questionnaire answers, etc.

That’s your command center for this mini.
