How to collect session fees offline

You might have a client who wants to pay in cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, or you simply want to invoice them yourself. Session can still keep the booking organized while you collect the money outside of Session.

Here’s how to set that up.

1. Choose to collect fee outside of Session

When you are creating or editing a mini session or a session type:

  1. Open the session.
  2. Scroll to Packages & fees.
  3. Under “Choose how you want to collect your session fees,” select Collect fee outside of Session.

This tells Session to let the client book without paying.

2. Client books as normal

Your client will go through the full booking flow

  • pick a spot or time
  • fill out forms
  • sign contracts
  • submit questionnaires
    but they will not be asked to pay at checkout.

You can then collect payment your way.

3. Record the payment later

After you receive payment:

  1. Open the booking.
  2. Click the invoice/payment line.
  3. Click Mark as partially or fully paid.
  4. Enter what they paid and save.

Now your records in Session match what really happened.

Things to know

  • When you collect offline, Session does not send automatic payment reminders, since it does not know how or when you are collecting.
  • This is perfect for in-person sales, cash/check, Venmo, or when you want to offer a custom amount.
  • You can also turn this on for just one spot in a mini by reserving the spot and choosing to collect payment outside of Session.
