Full sessions in Session are designed for the kind of work that isn’t one day / one time slot like minis — things like portraits, seniors, newborns, branding, boudoir, weddings, etc. You can book them two ways:
- Automatically – clients pick a session and a time from your availability (best way 👑)
- Manually – you create a one-off full session for a specific client
Here’s how both work.
The best way: session types + availability
If you want clients to self-book you — no back and forth — set up session types (your services) and your availability calendar.
- Go to Manage > Session types and create the services you offer (Family, Newborn, Branding, Headshots…).
- Make a session type public if you want it to appear on your Booking Site.
- Keep it private if you only want to send the link to specific clients or select it when accepting an inquiry.
- Then set your availability so Session knows when people can actually book you.
- After that, clients can go to your Booking Site, pick the session type, date/time, sign contracts, answer questionnaires, and pay — all in one flow. No chasing invoices or contracts.
This is the ideal setup if you offer the same services over and over.
See: How to set up your availability.
One-off full sessions (manual booking)
Sometimes you just need to make a session for this client.
- Go to Sessions (top nav).
- Click New → New full session.
- Give it a client name or session title.
- Choose a session type (optional).
- Add a session date (you can also add it later).
- Click Create full session.
This creates a full session just for that client — it’s not something other people can randomly book. Perfect for custom jobs, reshoots, or bookings you took over text/DM.
Note: Manual full sessions are for a specific client. If you want to offer that service to everyone, create it as a session type instead.
Public vs private session types
- Public → shows on your Booking Site automatically
- Private → hidden, but you can send the link to select clients
That gives you control over what’s bookable right now.
