Getting started with email automation

Email automation in Session keeps your clients informed without you having to remember every message. We give you smart defaults, you can tweak them, and if you need more — you can build full workflows.

Where to find it

  • Go to Manage → Client emails.
  • You’ll see two main areas: Email automation (built-in/canned emails) and Email workflow (your custom sequences).

Built-in emails (the easy part)

We already send the common stuff for you — things like:

  • Booking confirmation
  • Payment reminder
  • Session reminder
  • Inquiry confirmation
  • Gallery auto-expire reminder

Each one shows a Status (Sending / Not sending).

  • Click an email to turn it on/off.
  • You can change timing on the ones that support it (e.g. 2 days before, 1 day before).
  • You can edit the content to match your voice.

So: you can run your business on just these.

Brand your emails

At the top you’ll see Email branding.

  • Add your logo
  • Edit the footer
  • Turn on “CC me on all emails” if you want to see what clients get

Need more than one email? Use workflows

Sometimes you want: “Client books a Family Session → send welcome today → send prep guide 3 days later → send reminder 1 day before.”
That’s what Email workflow is for.

  • Click + New workflow
  • Pick a trigger (for example: “When a client books Family Session”)
  • Add the emails and timing you want
  • Save / publish

Your built-in automations will still send — workflows are extra.

Good to know

  • You can have different workflows for different session types.
  • You can pause a workflow anytime.
  • Manual emails (like “Share gallery”) are still available when you open a booking.
